Carmen Crespo visits the Balerma WWTP, which will provide reclaimed water to irrigators
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Carmen Crespo, has made a technical visit to the Balerma Wastewater Treatment Plant (EDAR), in the municipality of El Ejido (Almería), where she has had the opportunity to know from the hand of the technicians the tertiary treatment facilities, contemplated in the III Drought Decree, which will give the possibility of obtaining 0.6 cubic hectometres of reclaimed water for irrigation. The counselor has reported that Almería will have 37 cubic hectometres of reclaimed water "providing new water possibilities for our farmers and irrigators who are not going through good times due to the structural drought suffered by Andalusia." Specifically, the tertiary treatment planned at the El Toyo and El Bobar WWTPs, with almost 15 new cubic hectometres of water for irrigation, the expansion of tertiary treatment at the Vera WWTP, Cuevas del Almanzora, Mojácar or Huércal- Overa.
