Glovo agrees to limit layoffs in offices to 140 workers
Glovo's management has reached an agreement with its office staff to carry out an employment regulation file (ERE), in which the company reduces the layoffs it wanted to carry out. On January 30, the home delivery platform announced a 6.5% cut in office staff (where customer service employees, programmers, data managers or employees of the commercial part work), which is translates into 250 layoffs. The Col lectiu Ronda, which represents the majority of the affected workers, has explained in a statement that, after agreeing to the ERE, this number will be reduced to 140 people, most of whom work in the Barcelona offices.
The layoffs mainly affect the areas of commercial support, recruitment and data. Close sources indicate that, despite the fact that the ERE includes more administrative profiles, in general they are highly qualified professionals related to the development of the application and the algorithm. According to data from Barcelona Tech, the association that represents more than 1,200 startups in the city, the average salary of a qualified worker in this type of company in Barcelona is 50,000 euros per year.
